Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Risk and Performance Analyst to join the Investments team at the TTC Pension Plan.

Reporting to the Director of Investment Risk and Analytics, you will support assessments of investment risks, portfolio performance evaluations and risk management, ensuring the TTC Pension Plan (TTCPP) meets its financial objectives.

What will I do?

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Define and produce regular risk and performance reports to support the Investments team in making informed decisions about the pension plan's investment strategy, risk management and overall financial well-being.
  • Conduct advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis and help to fulfill adhoc requests for the Investment team, the Investment Committees, and Board of Directors.
  • Work with the internal Finance team and the custodian Performance team to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify risks in the TTCPP fund and public markets activities, including funding and market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk and derivative counterparty risk.
  • Learn and ensure compliance with relevant pension fund regulations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of risk assessments, performance analyses and decisionmaking processes.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and enhance risk reporting mechanisms to optimize efficiency and strengthen risk management.
  • Assist in advancing TTC Pension Plan's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, by integrating ESG considerations into the investment and monitoring process.
  • Act as the primary contact for performance, risk and ESG analytic service providers.
  • Stay abreast of economic conditions and regulatory changes to proactively identify new strategic initiatives for risk management and performance monitoring.

What will help me be successful?

Education & Development

  • Postsecondary education in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program, such as Finance, Economics, or a related field or equivalent direct work experience.
  • Obtained or working towards CFA, FRM or a similar professional designation.

Experience & Skills

  • 13 years of working experience as a research analyst, risk analyst or performance analyst in the pension, consulting, or asset management industries.
  • Prior experience generating clear and concise reports for diverse stakeholders, with a focus on performance reports, risk exposure reports and compliance documentation.
  • Prior experience analyzing large datasets, extracting meaningful insights and identifying relevant trends.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Excel, Word), PowerPoint, VBA, Python, SQL and Tableau, and similar office tools.
  • Proficiency and experience with investment analytics and risk software packages (e.g. Bloomberg, Factset, Morningstar Direct, Axiom, Barra One, etc.) would be an asset.
