Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Responsibility: Strategic and Operational Leadership

Lead in the development of culturally respectful and culturally centered student recruitment and retention strategies, including outreach program development, integration, engagement and support Lead in establishing partnerships with culturally focused community groups to enable and elevate pathways for students into post secondary education Support in the identification and nurturing of strategic external relationships with varied community programs, and serve as institutional representation with external corporate and community partners Lead in the supervision and management of identified personnel within the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging office as the department continues to build and grow. Lead in the intake, assessment and resolution for key escalations with correlated influence to enhance inclusion and belonging at Ontario Tech Oversee the development of communication and engagement strategies to facilitate university participation in and integration of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging efforts Provides strategic leadership and guidance on Cultural relations, partnerships and faculty research Serve as institutional representation with external corporate and community partners, tracking and reporting program success measures to key internal/external stakeholders Support and lead all ministry and compliance related reporting for culturally focused programming

Responsibility: Programming and Services

Oversee and manage the delivery of programs for underserved or marginalized student communities Oversee strategic planning for campus wide culturally relevant events and programming Provide institutional leadership and guidance to ensure service delivery to students is from a cultural, trauma informed and anti oppressive framework Lead in the development of key KPIs to support in the measurement of program success Support and lead in applicable culturally sensitive advising and guidance for students, alongside support to triage and refer to existing internal and community resources Collaborate across the institution to support in delivery of program and student success objectives Collaborate with existing student success programs to identify key themes and barriers to student success and integrate recommendations to close gaps

Responsibility: Innovation and Growth

Develop new operational functions within the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging portfolio through the development and launch of new culturally relevant programming and support structures Design and implement financial awards framework (scholarships/bursaries) for students in partnership with the university's awards team Review and identify skills gaps for identified student groups, with objective of collaborating with key stakeholder groups to support in building student capacity and job ready skills for workforce entry Leverage existing institutional student data to identify barriers to success for students and work to integrate solutions to support desired outcomes Identify funding opportunities and prepare applications and proposals to support the work of the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging office Oversee and support project implementations for key culturally centered initiatives Consults with interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams to ensure accountability and overall project success

Required Skills:

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, manage projects, monitor and track progress, and communicate to partners and senior management so that objectives are met. Ability to build and communicate departmental objectives, progress and requirements using applicable applications, such as Microsoft and/or Google Suite Strong content development and facilitation skills

Required Education:

Completion of a four-year post-secondary program Advanced education in a relevant discipline ( Social Work, Community Psychology, Social Policy) will be considered an asset An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

Three (3) to five (5) years of operational, people leadership and/or strategy experience Culturally relevant lived experience A minimum of two years experience with the development, delivery and evaluation of support programs and services. Work experience in a university setting is considered an asset Experience recognizing, understanding, empathizing, and working with diverse belief systems and ways of being. Experience overseeing administrative operations, including people management, financial management Experience in Program development, Business Analysis, program and or project management An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Required Knowledge:

Lived expertise and institutional/systemic knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Experience recognizing, understanding, empathizing, and working with diverse belief systems and ways of being. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build reciprocal relationships.
