**EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - HOME SUPPORT WORKER

Temporary Part Time Employment

January - March 31, hours/week; $21.40/hour
The Home Support Worker will provide routine homemaking and housekeeping duties
for low-income seniors and for low-income adults with disabilities or short-term medical
conditions. Home Support Workers are friendly visitors in the clients' homes performing
home support duties as determined and scheduled by the Seniors Services Supervisor.

**SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

  • Housekeeping Duties including: Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, washing of floors,
cleaning washrooms, wiping down high touch surfaces such as counters, cupboard
doors, light switches, knobs etc.

  • Homemaking Duties including: laundry, organizing various areas including: closets,
cupboards and removal of unnecessary clutter from hallways and pathways as well as
removing garbage and recycling

  • Assist in creating grocery lists, meal planning and light meal preparation as directed by
the Senior Services Supervisor

  • Monitor necessary levels of housekeeping supplies cleaning and equipment
  • Connect clients to various supports available in the community based on age and need
  • Understand and adhere to all worker responsibilities as outlined in the current Towns'
Health and Safety Policy as well as Home Support Operating and Code of Conduct
Procedures

  • Administrative duties as directed by the Seniors Services Supervisor

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalentexperience and training in areas such as:
  • Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia
  • Grief & Loss
  • Depression
  • Working with individuals with hearing/visual and/or mobility impairment
  • Mental Health
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with reliable transportation and abstract that is
acceptable by the Town

  • A valid Standard First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Current RCMP Based Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Computer proficiency is a must including knowledge of: Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel,

Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive)

  • Ability to work independently in clients' homes with a variety of living conditions
  • Ability to ensure client safety and comfort, which includes promoting independence and
- mental well-being of the client in a respectful, compassionate and supportive manner
  • Physical ability to undertake housekeeping duties for extended periods of time including
standing, walking, climbing stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs
