Position:


EfficiencyOne is looking for an
Energy Manager (Halifax Regional Centre for Education) who will be responsible for providing energy management services for contracted services or business and other technical support as directed by EfficiencyOne and Contract Lead.

The EM will identify energy efficiency measures and opportunities at the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) and help prepare the business case for approval.

The Energy Manager will provide technical support related to energy management as well as work with third-party engineering firms and contractors to direct energy management activities within HRCE schools and facilities.


A snapshot of what you will be involved with:

  • Contributing to energy planning, and assisting with the implementation of energy projects & influencing policy.
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing an energy management program to include monitoring energy usage, investigating energy use increases, and developing policies, plans, and capital projects to reduce overall energy consumption.
  • Involved in Energy Management activities on both a technical and organizational aspect for the assigned client.
  • Involved in Project management activities; (budget reviews, work orders, communications, meetings, etc.)
  • Utilizing building automation systems and energy management information systems to track energy usage and identify energy savings opportunities.
  • Inspiring and providing guidance to the clients to assist them in performance improvement and accomplishment of business objectives.
  • Completing technical audits, recommending energy efficiency technologies, and preparing and assisting in feasibility studies and business cases for approval.
  • Recommending projects, measures, and incentive programs for HRCE.
  • Developing an understanding of the mechanical and electrical systems within client facilities.
  • Developing an understanding of the organization's budgetary framework and procurement policies and contracts.
  • Acting as project manager for all energyrelated capital projects, including liaison to Energy Services Consultants in association with any Energy Performance Contracts.
  • Processing work orders through a computerized notification system using the SAP PM Program.
  • Development and review of tender documents and Requests for proposals.
  • Providing monthly status reports; and quarterly final reports and presentations to HRCE management and EfficiencyOne outlining project status, energy management opportunities, and achievements to date.

What Will Help You Succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), Engineering Technologist Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Designation as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), or Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum three years of related experience in an energyrelated role with experience developing and implementing energy management programs and/or energy savings projects.
  • Practical knowledge applicable to an institutional environment, including knowledge of energy efficiency measures specific to HVAC.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret electrical and mechanical plans and specifications for facilities.
