Description:

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), your role involves delivering evidence-based services focusing on occupational performance to address the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. You may function as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate, playing a crucial role in the healthcare team. Your tasks include empowering individuals, groups, and communities to pursue meaningful occupations such as self-care, productivity, and leisure. You will assist clients in enhancing their functional abilities and independence concerning cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects. Your responsibilities encompass a wide array of services, including triage, assessment, counseling, goal setting, treatment, prevention, education, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, tailoring your approach to the client's surroundings. You will actively involve clients and their families in the care process, engaging them in decision-making and evaluation. By working in interdisciplinary teams, you will promote awareness, enhance support, and drive quality improvement initiatives, fostering partnerships to elevate service standards. Additionally, you will actively contribute to continuous improvement in your professional community, offering mentorship and supervision to students and support staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
