Job Title: MDML Student Project Assistant - Archival Collections

Reports to: Associate Librarian

Hour of work: 20 hours

Hourly Rate: $15.85

Classification: AMUSE A

Duration: May – August 31, 2024

Job Summary:

The student in this position will work on 2 projects related to archival collections. One project is to examine and create alist ofall the musical scores in the YaëlaHertz Archive. The student will also help with assessing the condition of the scores to determineproper follow-up actions. As needed, the student will help with the overall organization and housing of the Hertz collection. The second project will entail the organization and housing of the Pierre BéluseArchive. The student will help with basic data entry and other tasks related to the preparation of the BéluseArchive for publication on the McGill Library Archival Collections Catalogue (AtoM).

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Excellent knowledge of music and music materials, preferably with some formal training. Knowledge ofmusic formats, as well as audio and video equipment and materials. Demonstrated organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Must be user-focused and service-oriented. Demonstrated ability to cope with physical requirements: handling, carrying, and lifting of library materials. Library or similar experience preferred. English: spoken, read and written. French: spoken and read. McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (3) on a scale of 0-4. Other languages an asset.
