ABOUT THE JOB

The Production Team Member (PTM) works under the direction of the Head Brewer/Head of Production on all tasks related to beer production including brewing and fermentation management.

The PTM assists in the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of beer, as well as the cleaning, organization, and maintenance of the brewery, canning room, and warehouse, and the equipment within those spaces.

The PTM may assist the Head of Administration and/or Head of Hospitality in staff training to improve product knowledge and in helping the Taproom during rushes or emergencies.

The PTM may also assist the Head of Commercialization with preparing and delivering product.

Production work is focused, detail-oriented, and somewhat self-directed.

In this role, you will need to be mechanically inclined, dexterous, comfortable working with large equipment and keeping detailed and legible records, and serious about safety.

This position will give you the opportunity to develop superior time management, communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills. This is an excellent entry-level position for someone interested in learning to become a brewer.


As a knowledgeable employee on our small team, you will also be required at times to assist the Taproom Team by moving or changing kegs, providing information about new beers, pouring and running beer to customers during a rush, helping to tidy up the Taproom after a rush, and/or completing other tasks associated with operating a small craft brewery.

We are all on the same team, so a positive attitude and a flexible mindset are integral to this position.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Working directly with the Head Brewer/Head of Production on all tasks related to beer production including brewing and fermentation management
  • Packaging
  • Canning, including prepping and cleaning the canning line
  • Kegging, cleaning, and filling
  • Cellaring
  • Transfers
  • CIPs
  • Purging
  • Grain out
  • Milling/cracking of malt
  • Cleaning
  • General Brewery cleaning
  • CIP of FVs and BTs
  • Brewhouse CIP
  • Ensuring that brewery and all equipment is kept clean and well maintained
  • Organization
  • Draught beer lines and the Taproom's keg fridge
  • Grain cracking room
  • Warehouse
  • Product movement/distribution
  • Moving packaged product and raw materials between brewery and warehouse
  • Picking/prepping orders for delivery
  • May be asked to do some deliveries

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain proper records based on daily duties in the brewery and warehouse
  • Setup and adjust machinery, preparatory to operation, and perform corrective adjustments
  • Develop your palate to perform a sensory analysis of beer and detect offflavours and defects
  • Check product quality control by inspecting cans, bottles, and kegs for defects to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Expand your MSDS knowledge to safely use chemicals
  • Learn to clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation are always maintained
  • Stock inventory, organize all spaces in the brewery and warehouse, and rotate stock as directed
  • Follow all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and provide feedback during safety meetings
  • Properly dispose of product and waste materials within environmental standards
  • Assist in training taproom staff on finished products
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 19+ years of age
  • High school diploma
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Effective communication skills
  • A positive attitude and friendly disposition when interacting with coworkers and customers
  • Strong work ethic, "let's get it done" attitude, and a fastpaced working style
  • An enthusiastic team spirit and a desire to be a part of an inclusive and diverse team
  • Physical ability to drive and work on your feet for long hours, safely maneuver and lift a full 50L kegs (130 pounds), and carry 23 flats
