The Controller, Corporate and Cartons & Labels is responsible for the timely and accurate recording of the Business Unit's financial activities providing day-to-day operational insights and support to the Cartons & Labels leadership team in terms of measures required to optimally manage the business.


Here are some of the different activities you'll be asked to do:

  • Ownership of and responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the Corporate and Cartons & Labels business unit's accounting records, including all essential accounting duties such as invoicing, collections, accounts receivable management, maintenance of the perpetual inventory records, accruals, journal entries, maintenance of the divisional general ledger and sub-ledgers, and reporting period cut-off procedures.
  • Ensure complete and accurate cost accounting records are maintained for the business unit and that unusual or material variances are acted upon to ensure reported costs and margin levels are accurate.
  • Work closely with the SVP, Cartons & Labels and the SVP, Finance on key strategic initiatives and proactively participate and support corporate and business unit strategic goals and directions.
  • Provide business insights through financial analysis to assist in operational effectiveness.
  • Set expectations, manage performance, and direct training & development of all accounting staff in reporting, financial and operational analysis, collections, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Financial performance forecasting for the business unit and corporate results.
  • Review of product line financial statements and financial reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor the bank operating line and working capital requirements on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and manage cash flow.
  • Accurate monthly and quarterly reporting to the SVP, Finance and the SVP, Cartons & Labels on departmental performance and monitoring of departmental expenses as compared to budget and forecasts, proactively identifying areas of concern and potential areas for improvement.
  • Perform financial analysis and report on departmental performance as required from time to time.
  • Ensure sound processes are in place for working capital management, including:
  • Monitoring of raw material, work in process and finished good inventory levels,
  • Establish systems to ensure all billings and collections are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and
  • Monitoring aged assets and recommending actions to convert to cash.
  • Preparation and maintenance of working papers in support of the audit of bank reports, annual financial statements, and the preparation of corporate tax returns.
