Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations of the company, which includes managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial projects, and the preparation of financial reports.

  • Support ADJ Industries Inc. and related companies in full cycle accounting and administration.
  • Complete Accounts Receivable tasks such as issuing customer invoices, consolidating statements, and reconciling customer accounts.
  • Manage Accounts Payable, ensuring proper approvals are obtained and promptly address vendor inquiries.
  • Handle the calculation and processing of bi-weekly payroll, including submitting source deductions to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Create, adjust, monitor, and review procedures within the Finance department.
  • Reconcile company Credit Cards and request receipts from cardholders.
  • Negotiate and manage company Insurance Policies for Property, Auto, and Liability.
  • Assist in monthly closings, bank reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
  • Review and organize open Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects and ensure proper closure on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in special finance projects related to company initiatives and projects assigned by the Company President.
  • Defend financial systems and results to auditors by implementing financial controls and providing supporting documentation.
  • Support business initiatives by conducting financial reviews on manufacturing projects.
  • Complete required Government Surveys on a mandatory quarterly/yearly basis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with GAAP and finance principles.
  • Have a strong attention to details and a dedication to delivering high-quality work.
  • Pursuing a CPA designation is a significant advantage.
  • Meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application as per Section 15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations, SOR/.
  • Hold post-secondary education in financial accounting, administration, or business (or equivalent).
  • Possess experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, or other financial activities.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Quickbooks.
