If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is committed to Employment Equity (EE). In order to achieve a representative workforce, selection will be based on qualified candidates self-declaring as belonging to the following EE group: persons with disabilities. To self-declare, please complete the EE section in your application.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HOW TO SELF-DECLARE

In order to self-declare, please check off the appropriate box within the online application as part of the Employment Equity section. Select option 3 – "I wish to complete the self-declaration form for Employment Equity Groups". In the next screen, please ensure that you select option 1 - "for collection purposes to be considered for this job opportunity where belonging to one of the targeted Employment Equity groups is a condition for eligibility".

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is a separate employer and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act.

The CFIA considers applications from individuals who have legal status to work in Canada and does not give preference to Canadian citizens.

This opportunity highlights the Agency's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Post-recruitment, the CFIA is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive space for its employees. This involves creating an environment where all individuals feel valued and supported and includes initiatives such as accessible learning events, diversity training, mentorship programs, and employee resource groups such as the Persons with Disabilities Grassroots Committee to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities for growth and success within the Agency.

As per the Accessible Canada Act, disability is defined as any impairment, including a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication, or sensory impairment — or a functional limitation — whether permanent, temporary, or episodic in nature, or evident or not, that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders a person's full and equal participation in society.
