JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

New-Hire Drivers


Coordinating refinery tests load (between 3-10 loads) for new hire driver, with emphasis on product handling, refinery policy/procedure, pump operations and compliance with AFD Petroleum SJP for delivery to customer tanks and AFD storage & card locks.


During the training period, the Driver Trainer shall review and sign off on the Dangerous Goods Bill of Lading documentation competency and knowledge of TDG compliance.

During the training period, the driver trainer shall review the completion and the Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA), daily Hours of Service logbook, and Drivers Vehicle Inspection Report


Driver Trainer shall present his written findings to the Health & Safety Manager, Transportation Manager, and Logistics Manager with their recommendation for placement with AFD Petroleum.

Upon completion of the Readiness Program, the Health & Safety Manager, Transportation Manager/Branch Manager shall determine the final sign off on driver trainee and placement as a revenue generating driver with assigned unit and shift.


Transportation Manager/Logistics Manager shall assign the Driver Trainer to conduct a 60-day review of new hire drivers before completion of probationary period.

Driver Trainer shall present their written findings to Transportation Manager/Logistics Manager.

Current Fuel Drivers Performance Reviews
As assigned by Health & Safety Manager, Transportation Manager/Logisitcs Manager, conduct annual review of all AFD Petroleum company drivers.

During the training period, conduct a video review of loadings at refinery supply points, audit of Fuel Bill of Lading forms, truck cab and trailer inspections for compliance with AFD Petroleum procedures and compliance with legislations.

Annual ride along and review AFD Petroleum SJP for delivery to customer tanks and AFD Petroleum storage & card locks.

Provide seasonal field level workshops refresher on chaining up, adjusting PPE to seasonal conditions. In conjunction with the Safety Manager, conduct training sessions on identifying seasonal field level hazard assessments

In conjunction with HSE Manager, assist with the drivers training on the role out of Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).


The Driver Trainer shall provide field training cargo securement for seasonal deck loads and fluid trucks in accordance with the National Safety Code 10 Cargo Securement Standards.


FLHA Review and Customer Site Maps
In collaboration with the Safety Manager, review FLHA identified by drivers and identify corrective action or alternative solutions.

Conduct site visits of new and current customer locations. The driver Trainer shall ensure the site maps are updated and identify current hazards FD driver will encounter.


Based on customer location, remoteness, mountain access or limited space establish a site grading profile that works in complement with driver grading score card.


EXPEREINCE

  • 5 years' experience in a senior driver role
  • Fuel experience/ CFA required
  • Refinery badges preferred
  • Driver Training Experience considered an asset
