Fire Department – Administrative Assistant
The Township of Uxbridge is accepting applications for a Summer Student placement within the Fire Department administration office. An applicant should be currently enrolled in a postsecondary education program and returning to continue their education in September 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive visitors and answer telephone calls, respond to general inquiries, and open
and distribute incoming regular and electronic mail.
• Establish, coordinate and maintain records and file systems in both computer and
hard copy format
• Assist with file maintenance, including Laserfiche scanning for record retention
• Assist in day-to-day operations of the administration office
• Prepare a variety of letters, notes, reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word,
Excel and Powerpoint.
• Completes various tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief.Qualifications and Competencies
• Excellent oral and written skills
• Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public and staff in a
courteous and tactful manner
• Proficient in the use of computers and current related software
• Self-starter with demonstrated strong time-management and organizational skills
• Must possess valid Driver's Licence
This is a contract position with a start date of June 10, 2024, and expiration date of August 30, 2024. The ideal candidate will receive a rate of pay of $16.85 per hour, based on 35 hours/week.
