The Vice Provost Position at Saskatchewan Polytechnic

The Vice Provost is a key member of the Provost's Senior Academic Leadership Team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Responsible for providing academic excellence and leadership across multiple schools, this role plays a crucial part in shaping the academic vision and strategic goals of the institution. From long-range planning to budget oversight, the Vice Provost leads various initiatives to ensure program quality and continuous improvement.

In this role, the Vice Provost directly oversees the 11 Academic Schools, supporting their planning efforts and collaborating closely with the Special Advisor to the Provost on academic priorities.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Program Leadership
  • Leads the development of academic programs and practices.
  • Fosters a culture of academic excellence.
  • Ensures programs meet national accrediting standards.
  • Supports student success strategies.
Institutional Planning
  • Advocates for strategic goals in academic planning.
  • Contributes to decision-making processes.
  • Supports student success initiatives.
Relationship ManagementInternal
  • Fosters collaboration among academic and administrative units.
  • Supports high-quality services across the institution.
  • Acts as a resource for academic program matters.
  • Contributes to operational effectiveness.
External
  • Liaises with professional groups and government agencies.
  • Maintains partnerships with educational organizations.
  • Represents the institution on academic committees.
  • Develops relationships for academic opportunities.
People Management
  • Cultivates a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Recruits and retains top talent.
  • Coaches and mentors staff.
  • Plans for future leadership roles.
Resource Allocation
  • Aligns resource allocation with organizational goals.
  • Maximizes revenue generation.
  • Leads capital and facility initiatives.

Requirements:

Graduate degree in educational leadership or related field, 7 years of senior leadership experience, and experience in program supervision. Previous engagement with external stakeholders is an asset.
