The Department of Medicine and the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital is seeking a gastroenterologist specializing in hepatology.

The Division of Gastroenterology is well-known for providing exceptional care and is internationally recognized for its programs. It boasts multiple members who are globally renowned for their expertise in gastroenterology, research, and education, alongside endoscopy.

The Ottawa Hospital, a 1150-bed tertiary-care facility, caters to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec across four inpatient sites and one ambulatory center. Annually, it records around 50,000 inpatient admissions, 160,000 emergency visits, and over one million outpatient visits.

The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) is the hospital's research hub and ranks impressively for receiving competitive research grants and publishing high-impact studies.

The Department of Medicine, a research-focused entity, houses esteemed researchers and secures substantial external research funding yearly.

The Faculty of Medicine is a prominent leader, excelling in research intensity and citations on a national level. The University of Ottawa boasts the position of being the largest bilingual university globally and the foremost bilingual medical school in Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Join the Hepatology program within the Gastroenterology Division at the hospital
  • Participate in on-call services and provide outpatient Hepatology care
  • Contribute to academic teaching/education and clinical research

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should be a gastroenterologist with specialized training in hepatology from a recognized fellowship program. Other requirements include holding an MD degree, certification in Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, licensure in Ontario, and eligibility for a University of Ottawa academic appointment.
