What is the opportunity?

RBC is looking for a Lead SRE for our US Cash Management Technology. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future technology landscape at RBC, delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology while implementing strategic components servicing across all RBC functions defined in our roadmap. This role entails developing, implementing, and supporting Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) solutions for applications supported by the Retail Banking Payments Technology and Integrations (RBPTI) within US Cash Management.

What will you do?

  • Provide hands-on SRE technical leadership on squad level, offering 24x7 SRE support
    • Act as an escalation point in the on-call rotation, and support maintenance, scheduled work, support, and release deployment requirements
    • Lead incident management and problem management for applications in scope and RCA Action items fulfillment/ownership
    • Manage technology currency with a focus on automating opportunities such as server patching, certificate renewal, and compliance
    • Set vision for SRE product base including monitoring, alerting, machine learning anomaly detection, self-healing, and reliability testing
    • Run engineering practice forum to review SRE solutions in line with the vision
  • Lead code and non-functional reviews of all production bound SRE solutions
  • Drive transformation by seeking ways to automate existing processes
    • Lead the team in executing the SRE roadmap for US Cash Management
    • Track, audit, monitor, and implement on technical work streams
  • Act as portfolio SME – understand & document common components, core functionalities, and infrastructure of supported applications
    • Focus on Continuous improvement and technical standards – Drive enhancements in productivity, monitoring, tooling, and best practices
  • Drive top-notch technical solutions by tracking industry-leading solutions and applying them to RBC environment and needs
    • Responsible for driving the overall SRE strategy within RPBTI ET, owning roadmap build

What do you need to succeed?

  • 4-6 years of experience as a Staff SRE
  • Advanced knowledge of Python, YAML, Shell scripting, Azure, Linux, Dynatrace, Prometheus, PagerDuty, Moog, Splunk, Elastic, Azure monitor, Chaos Engineering, MQ, Kafka, and Kubernates
  • Ability to influence at the Senior and/or Principal level

Nice-to-have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in a variety of SRE tools such as Ansible, Azure Automation, and Catchpoint
