We are looking for a detail-oriented and skilled Biosafety Cabinet Technician to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Technical Service Supervisor and be responsible for maintenance, certification, and repair of biosafety cabinets (BSCs) and related laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will understand biosafety protocols, possess excellent technical skills, and ensure safe and compliant service.

Position Scope:

  • Install, certify, and commission new BSCs following manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of BSCs to optimize performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues in BSCs and laboratory equipment.
  • Perform timely repairs and replacements of faulty components to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Execute airflow velocity tests, HEPA filter integrity testing, and other performance verification procedures meticulously.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and service history.
  • Provide technical support and training on proper BSC usage, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Stay informed about BSC technology advances, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Assist in other technical duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in an applicable Engineering Technician program.
  • C.Tech. Certification (or eligibility) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in BSC maintenance and laboratory equipment servicing.
  • Certification in BSC maintenance and repair (e.g., NSF/ANSI 49, NEBB).
  • Understanding of airflow dynamics, HEPA filtration, and biosafety principles.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues in laboratory equipment.
