  • What Is the Opportunity?
  • The Bond & Specialty Insurance (B&SI) group at Travelers provides a broad array of competitive management liability, professional liability and surety products and coverages to businesses of all sizes. This Financial Analyst, Bond & SI role will partner with brokers to provide Contract and Commercial Surety coverage for new and renewal business based on customers' needs. As a Financial Analyst, you are decisive, detailoriented, and are learning how to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. You are developing the ability to assess risk and promote our products, which will contribute to the profitability and success of Travelers.
What Will You Do?

  • Responsible for the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business through knowledge and understanding of Travelers risk appetite to make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority.
  • Underwrite and negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify crossselling opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with brokers to market and promote Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Execute sales plans to ensure retention and new business targets are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in a financerelated discipline preferred.
  • One to three years of financerelated experience or management liability, professional liability and/or surety underwriting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of management liability, professional liability and/or surety products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market preferred.
  • Relevant experience interacting with brokers preferred.
  • Associateship of Canadian Surety Bonding designation preferred.
  • Financial acumen, including the ability to understand financial statements and client's loss history preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify routine underwriting, marketing or financial challenges and analyze available information to make decisions in alignment with our risk appetite preferred.
What is a Must Have?

  • One year of financerelated experience or relevant insurance or underwriting experience required.
  • Valid driver's license or alternative means of transportation required.
  • Travel 1025% of time required.
