Duties and Responsibilities


The Crane Operator is responsible for lifting, moving, positioning, and placing various equipment, materials, pre-fabricated forms, tables, and other large objects with the crane.

In addition, the Crane Operator will assess, conduct, and record daily machine safety inspections, routine crane maintenance as well as any specific crane manufacturer routine maintenance.

The Crane Operator continuously demonstrates safety awareness by complying to all WorkSafe (WCB) procedures/safety practices including on site work practices and guidelines.


Education, Skills and Experience:

  • A Valid British Columbia Level A crane certificate is required (B ticket considered)
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively operate a crane to lift, move, position and place equipment and materials
  • Commercial &/or Infrastructure construction experience/formwork considered an asset
  • Perform routine and preoperational crane maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating
  • Perform preoperational inspections, and calculate the capacities and weight to prepare rigging and hoisting
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe (WCB) procedures/safety practices
  • Ability to independently conduct daily crane inspections
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in a variety of situations
  • Punctuality is a must
  • Must be able to perform physical work including climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Must have and wear personal protection equipment (PPE), have fall protection gear and the appropriate ticket(s) (will train)
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours including weekends
  • Must have means of reliable transportation to job sites
