  • The Lead, Indigenous Health Communications (the Lead) provides strategic, tactical and practical communications leadership, guidance and support to Indigenous Health Services and to the NH Communications department for communicating and engaging with the Indigenous, Inuit and Metis populations of northern BC. The Lead, in collaboration with the Indigenous Health leadership team and staff, develops, manages, implements, and evaluates the Indigenous Health Communications Strategy and associated tactics, including supporting tracking and reporting. The Lead brings specialist knowledge to content development, social media management, and web and multimedia management. In partnership with the indigenous Health leadership team and the NH Communications department, the Lead meets with Indigenous, Inuit and Metis groups to continuously improve communication strategies and tactics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing, plus five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of complex service delivery systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Previous experience in a health care, government, public sector, notforprofit, academic, or corporate environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of current national, provincial, and regional Indigenous health topics.
  • Experience working with indigenous people and communities.

  • Outstanding written communication skills, including exceptional copyediting abilities and a passion for clear, effective communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and other stakeholders in a wide variety of settings across the organization.
  • Ability to develop engaging and interesting original content.
  • Ability to be strategic in the design of Indigenous Health department communications campaigns.
  • Extensive knowledge of communications tools and practices used in a corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of design, photography, publications production, desktop publishing, video, and electronic communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally in a confident and effective manner.
  • Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive issues in a professional manner.
  • Ability to remain calm, alert, and high functioning under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to set priorities and be resultsoriented.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.
