About the Role You'll Play:


Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, you will oversee the continued development, growth, operations, and management of a workforce development program aimed at recruiting and training new entrant workers to the landscape/horticultural profession and upskilling current industry employees and employers.


Leading a team of 13-20 staff, you will work with industry employers, incumbent workers, and job seeker participants from across the province.

Working with trainers, industry professionals, and program advisory committees, you will continuously improve the delivery and structure of the program.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective operational plans to accomplish the project scope, activities, and targets according to schedule, and within budget with a focus on funding renewal and program expansion.
  • Establish project work plans/maps identifying key milestones, timelines, resources, and deliverables that provide clear direction to all staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, mediation, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Effectively lead, enable, and support a staff team to achieve all goals and targets in a very busy environment.
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to support the design and continuous improvement of the program while maintaining quality and the original integrity of the project.
  • Conduct regular project evaluation (data collection and analysis) to support reporting requirements.
  • Oversee and effectively manage the administration of the project.
  • Manage strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Oversee and implement a secure, organized, userfriendly approach to managing program intelligence, storage, and documentation to maximize efficiencies.
  • Write clear and concise reports to share progress and capture learnings from the program and satisfy project reporting requirements.

Program Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a project management position in business operations or workforce development that involves working closely with industry employers to address talent or business operation needs.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience, independently and effectively managing staff teams, including proven experience in effectively managing a team of 1020.
  • Experience managing budgets (managing governmentfunded budgets is an asset).
  • Proven organizational skills with a strong ability to set priorities, manage time, solve problems, and meet multiple deadlines in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills, relationship development, and diplomacy skills.
