The Learning and Development Specialist is a highly knowledgeable and skilled professional who will enable Fortinet employees to become and stay advanced experts in their field.


Responsibilities

  • You will assess the organization's needs to establish the goals and objectives of the training program or a learning pathway.
  • You will identify, gather, design, and curate defined products, solutions, and skills content to ensure onboarding and ongoing learning and development of Fortinet Employees.
  • The curated pathways will focus on the development of technical, business, and professional skills.
  • The content leveraged for pathway curation could be internal or external:
  • External content includes but is not limited to Udemy for Business, Skillsoft, and online sources (YouTube videos, articles, books, webcasts, podcasts, etc.).
  • Internal content includes but is not limited to Training Institute, Highspot, SharePoint, and other internal tools.
  • You will evaluate the effectiveness of curated pathways/training programs and identify the areas of improvement.
  • You will keep the curated pathways in sync with the latest evolutions in technology, industry, competitors, and Fortinet product and solutions knowledge.
  • You will research new training methods and approaches to ensure that the organization you support uses the most effective techniques.
  • You will interface with Fortinet departments: HR, Sales Engineering, Technical Support, Product Marketing, R&D, and others to ensure efficient relationship, communication, collaboration with these key stakeholders.
  • You will be in contact with the external content providers to keep the pathways up to date and relevant.
  • You will collaborate with peers within the technical enablement, course development, training, and certification groups.

Job experience and skills required

  • Previous instructional designer or technical writer experience
  • Medium technical knowledge of networking (switching and routing) and security protocols.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge (understanding) on virtualization, Next-Generation Firewalls, VPNs, Web Content Filtering, AntiSpam, database solutions, cloud security and infrastructure, network management, data center management, security operations, and authentication systems, platforms, and solutions
  • Understanding of public cloud solutions: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle
  • At least 3 years of experience in any of the following positions: Technical Content Creator/Developer, Technical Content Curator, Technical Support Engineer, Security Engineer (SE), Network Engineer, or similar
  • Strong technical writing, drawing, and visual media skills
  • Strong analytical skills, oriented to details
  • Strong ability to talk to either the technical or management/director level
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Highly organized and capable of working and multitasking across multiple projects
  • Selfmotivated, with the ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and flexible, operating in a fastpaced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in international teams across time zones

The following skills are plus

  • Any knowledge of Fortinet company operation: processes, tools, organization, structure, etc.
  • Experience in technical training, course development or content curation techniques and processes.
  • Experience with Learning Platforms (LMS) and Content Providers such as Udemy for Business, Skillsoft Percipio, Lynda, Linkedin Learning, Degreed, Edcast, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Fortinet competitors or having been employed with Fortinet competitors
  • Being Fortinet Network Security Expert certified

  • Must not have any legal, diplomatic, or other type of issues to get the appropriate visas to visit (including but not limited to) the United States, Canada, EU for training and meetings.
