Your Opportunity:

Responsibilities:

CONFORMANCE TO STANDARDS:

  • Review customer specific quality requirements and communicate those requirements to other VAW project participants.
  • Collaborate with project management and design engineering regarding product definition and product design to ensure conformance to customer quality requirements.
  • Develop relationships as a VAW liaison with our customers' Quality Leads.
  • Develop and implement systems to detect, investigate root cause and prevent recurrence of nonconformities.
  • Support supervisors by mentoring production staff on best practices identified during nonconformance investigations.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to qualify and monitor conformance of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with production to develop, coordinate, and implement best practice technical training for employees to enhance their skill set.
  • Train and assist suppliers and subcontractors in continuous improvement efforts to improve quality performance.
  • Other responsibilities and duties, as needed.

INSPECTIONS AND REPORTING:

  • Coordinate and perform inspections at local subcontractors, when needed.
  • Coordinate and perform inspections at nonlocal subcontractors, when needed. Travel will be required.
  • Review and approve submittals from subcontractors to ensure conformance to project requirements, when needed.
  • Create and provide customers with the required quality documentation (i.e. Data Books) when required.
  • Perform Internal Quality Audits, and followup with / implement opportunities for improvement, based on audit findings.
  • Participate in customer, supplier, external quality surveillance, and recertification quality audits, as needed.
  • Investigate concerns/complaints from customers / sites (CPAR's), including determination of root cause and corrective / preventive action, assessment of risk, and any followup that is required.
  • Initiate and support continuous improvement of VAW products, processes, and services.
  • Other responsibilities and duties, as needed.

SUPPORT OF VAW'S QUALITY SYSTEM:

  • Uphold VAW's "Commitment to Quality".
  • Support the preparation of quality plans / inspection test plans, and identification of quality hold points.
  • Become knowledgeable of VAW manufacturing techniques and how the products are fabricated.
  • Additional responsibilities as defined and revised from time to time in VAW's Quality System Manual, Procedures, and correlating documents.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

  • Understand and follow all of VAW's health and safety policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 35 years of relevant quality/manufacturing environment.
  • Post-Secondary education relevant to position.
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 Standards
  • Selfmotivated, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Problemsolver with the proven ability to meet goals and deadlines and balance the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable, flexible, dependable, patient, persistent, observant, and qualityfocused
  • Strong team player who can work with employees at various levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver's License and access to own vehicle.
