SCOPE

Reporting to the Supervisor, Service Centre, the incumbent provides technical support, troubleshoot and resolve problems for the Concordia administrative and academic community, as well as set up, maintain and repair classroom and lab audio-visual and computer equipment.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Restore disrupted services in a timely manner by deploying approved workarounds or permanent solutions.
  • Implement approved changes to support IT infrastructure endpoints.
  • Provide frontline customer service, ie. Information, consultation, training and technical support to faculty, students and staff in using instructional technology.
  • Use and update the information technology support management systems with all pertinent information.
  • Deliver, setup, teardown and troubleshoot audiovisual and computer equipment in classrooms, videoconferencing facilities, labs, special venues and in remote locations as required.
  • Maintain information on equipment inventory, maintenance and repair activities undertaken and specific information on problem resolution.
  • Share knowledge to help others resolve work related problems and act as a source of expert information guiding and training end users.
  • Perform and is responsible for routine maintenance and installation of equipment and workstations, including, software in classrooms, conference rooms, auditoria, labs, offices and the service area in a timely manner.
  • Consulting with staff & faculty when buying computers or software in order for the client to make the right purchase for their technical requirements.
  • Act as a backup to other functions in the service area. including frontline service at the counters.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (3year technical DEC) in a field related to the primary responsibilities and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken English and basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken French.
  • Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS platforms and related equipment.
  • Experience with a wide variety of audiovisual equipment including data projectors, laptops, video players, PA systems, microphones, mixing boards, digital recorders and document cameras.
  • Good organization skills and ability to prioritize tasks and to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, staff and external community.
  • Physical ability to perform primary responsibilities (e.g maintains laboratory equipment and facilities) attested by successful completion of medical evaluation to the University's satisfaction.
