Nature of the work:

  • The classification plan of a pedagogical counsellor involves functions of advising, leading, providing information, as well as development, support and feedback to the teaching staff, the executive staff responsible for teaching services and other stakeholders at the College, in connection with pedagogy, and particularly programs of study, learning and teaching strategies, nature and methods of evaluation, as well as research and innovation.
  • Pedagogical counsellors identify and analyze the needs of individuals, organizations and communities as regards human resources development and continuing education, and work, in conjunction with the teaching staff, executive staff and other stakeholders, to design, plan and organize training, activities, projects and programs to address the needs. They play an andragogical and leadership support role for teaching staff. They provide development, planning, implementation and evaluation of continuing education projects and programs for individuals, business clienteles and public and private organizations in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Approach companies and organizations to identify their training needs and propose programs addressing them.
  • Negotiate with Ministry for project funding on microcredentials (certification collégiale) programs.
  • Develop and design microcredential (certification collégiale), customized corporate training and noncredit courses.
  • Design and implement a framework for digital badges.
  • Coordinate the noncredit offerings and other services, such as language testing centers.
  • Develop assessment activities and instruments.
  • Explore, develop, and propose pedagogical tools to support CECS instructors.
  • Support CECS instructors with planning and structuring teaching activities.
  • Support and advise CECS instructors on evaluation strategies for students.
  • Ensure quality control of CECS noncredit courses.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Collaborate in the elaboration and monitoring of the budget.
  • Represent Dawson College in matters relevant to the position.
  • Any other related duties that may be assigned by supervisor.

Length of the contract:
September 2023 to May 31, 2024

Requirements:

  • Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly education.
  • Conditions:
  • A graduate degree would be a definite asset.
  • Advanced English and French oral and written communication skills (testing may be required)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to present material to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, concept mapping methodologies, competencybased teaching, assessment methods/approaches is an asset.
  • Knowledge in instructional design and with instructional technology an asset
  • Intermediate O365 Microsoft Office suite skills

Testing will take place week of August 21, 2023. Interviews will take place week of August 28, 2023.
