Broadband Maintenance Inc. is a Telecommunication Construction Company in the Ottawa and surrounding area. We are currently seeking Fiber Splicers to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects
  • Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans
  • Read and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to our Health and Safety policy
  • Work outdoors in various conditions to splice fiber optic telecommunication cables
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment
  • Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
  • Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of splicing experience required
  • Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
  • Holds a valid Ontario full G license
  • Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number as required
  • Able to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
  • Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver's abstract
  • Must be able to work various shifts as projects dictate (days, occasional nights, occasional weekends)

Full-time, Permanent

Salary:
$24.00-$28.00 per hour
