We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic, Roller Operator, based out of Brooks, Ab to work full-time on municipal and residential paving operations in various locations throughout southern Alberta.
Projects include residential street improvements, parking lot construction as well as residential upgrades. Expected start is April 23, 2024.SUMMARY
Reporting to the Paving Forman, the Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt rollers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness
- Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperature, so that ridges do not form by excessive pressure.
- Operate steelwheeled, rubber tired, vibratory, segmented, or other type of roller to compact asphalt surfaces.
- Operate heavy equipment and other construction duties as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the road construction industry, 2 years' experience operating a roller
- Demonstrate a proficient understanding of how to operate various asphalt rollers.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Willing to work out of town and in remote locations, as required; willing to work overtime, as required
