Interior Health is looking for an experienced Physician Compensation Finance Consultant to join our team on a full time permanent basis.
This position has a flexible work location from in BC (ideally within the Interior Health region).Employer paid training/education opportunities

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Physician Compensation Finance Consultant provides expertise about physician compensation payment processes, recoveries for revenues, accounting, medical staff contract management, and funding for medical staff in a complex environment with dynamic and constantly changing priorities.
The Consultant proposes remedial action on issues and is accountable within and around a financial framework in order to facilitate the achievement of the goals and objectives of Medical Affairs and Interior Health (IH).
The Physician Compensation Finance Consultant oversees and reviews the completion of working papers and ensures the accurate and timely recording and tracking of all medical staff compensation within Interior Health (IH).
The Consultant provides input and makes recommendations to the Director, Physician Compensation on issues related to contracts with physicians (clinical and administrative), payments to physicians, revenue recoveries from Ministry of Health (MoH), accounting issues, internal audit recommendations, policy issues, and process issues.
The Consultant develops strong liaisons with other Finance, Digital Health, MoH Physician Compensation Branch, and Finance staff in order to achieve the goals and objectives.
Provides recommendations within and around financial planning in order to facilitate the achievement of the mission, goals, and objectives of Medical Affairs.
Executive Director, Medical Affairs; and Senior Medical Directors on financial issues as they relate to the day-to-day operations of physician compensation.
o Ensures that there is a strong integration of information and issue management between both the planning aspects of physician compensation and reporting.
o Monitors contract terms with MoH to ensure that maximization of revenues is achieved and that IH operating dollars are minimized in the compensation of physician clinical services.
o Has influence and manages processes for ensuring contract management meets internal audit recommendations.- Acts as the physician compensation business expert for the purposes of managing the payments to physicians, recoveries from MoH and FFS programs, and physician contract management.
o Provides support for the full payment cycle for medical staff, including the review and approval of regular periodic medical staff pay files and providing support to the strategic business advisors and analysts in the creation of the pay files.
o Oversees accounting and financial management reporting functions for all medical staff revenue and expense transactions within IH in accordance with organizational policy, GAAP, MIS Guidelines, and government requirements.
o Maintains the Contracts Masters spreadsheet for clinical contracts including reconciliation to Ministry reporting, IH budget and IH financial accounting records.
o Compiles, prepares, reconciles, and creates reports related to medical staff financial information including periodic accruals, forecasts, Physician Master Agreement (PMA) impacts and non-PMA compliant rate changes.
o Assists and provides input into the preparation, distribution, and management of physician compensation administrative and clinical contracts.maintains policies and principles; and provides input to new policies, principles, and processes for physician compensation and contract management.
- Leads Digital Health system development/projects and development of systems to maximize the efficiencies of and for physician compensation processes.
- Educates and guides IH management staff and other leadership teams towards understanding and interpreting physician compensation policies, contracts, funding processes, and review of financial information and the systems to obtain the information.
- In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Education, Training, and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Business/Accounting plus accounting designation such as CGA, CMA, CA.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered in lieu of the above education requirements.
- Monitor and provide reports on work performed by clinical and administrative independent medical staff service providers to ensure achievement of deliverables.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and computerized systems.
