***Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Commercial Services is responsible for the strategic planning and maintenance of the Ground Operations sector of Wasaya Airways.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operations_
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fuel and cargo program, business operations, and support activities
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of contract execution to include all associated supporting activities and directives
  • Lead the fuel and cargo bidding process in a dynamically competitive environment
  • Assist in the development of Wasaya's plans and programs
  • Evaluate and advise the Company executive team on the impact of longrange plans, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action
  • Collaborate to develop timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the executive team in performance of their responsibilities
  • Researching, preparing and/or procuring documentation or analyzing requests in a timely manner in accordance with established guidelines to recommend the appropriate courses of action to Senior Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company
  • Support the executive team in implementation of planning, direction and control required to meet the cost, schedule, and performance goals of Wasaya Airways
  • Liaise closely with other functions such as Finance, Flight Operations, Maintenance, SOCC and Marketing and Communications to enable a comprehensive view of enterprise strategy
  • Operationally focus on providing thoughtful guidance for pursuit and capture decisions
  • Align with internal business partners to identify opportunities to collaborate and support their business requirements
  • Align with northern community partners in achieving Wasaya's Vision and Mission statements
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management processes are in place and that a culture of compliance with safety, flight standards, flight operations procedures, ground operations procedures, and company policies is embedded in the organization
  • Serve as a mentor to direct reports and be a champion of talent development within Wasaya and forge deep relationships within an incredibly collaborative and highly skilled organization
  • Perform and uphold Wasaya's Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.

  • Ensure that all staff have completed mandatory training

  • Responsible for hiring, termination and performance management of staff which includes timely completion of probationary and yearly performance assessments when due
  • Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department
  • Promote occupational health and safety within your department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
  • Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives within your department
  • Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the selfdeclaration survey updating as necessary
  • All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization, overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Post secondary education in a related field
  • Experience in scheduled airline, charter and cargo operations
  • Experience in ATR 42/72 operations preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates excellent work ethic and customer service relations
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong math, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and computer experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain enhanced security clearances
