THE ROLE: We are seeking a self-motivated junior AI software engineer who has a solid foundation in machine learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP). As a junior AI software engineer co-op student, you will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying AI algorithms and models. You come to us with software development, software engineering practice, and API knowledge.How you'll help build the future:

  • Develop, test, and deploy AI models
  • Experiment with different AI algorithms and analyze the performance and accuracy
  • Develop production-ready API to consume the AI model
  • Collaborate with other team members
  • Brainstorm and propose potential AI solutions
  • Explain the usefulness of the NLP models to stakeholders
  • Provide valuable recommendations and insights into future improvements of the models

What you bring to the role:

  • You are currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Must be in a registered co-op program
  • Experience with Python programming and frameworks such as Flask and FastAPI
  • Solid foundation in machine learning and NLP
  • Experience with common NLP models such as Transformer, GPT-3, and LLaMA
  • Experience with Restful API
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience or exposure to any of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, React, , , HTML/CSS, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of relational databases and non-relational databases
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline
  • Knowledge of unit test and test automation
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Follow the AI trend. Interested in learning new technologies
  • Strong self-learning skills

Nice to have:

  • Prompt engineering
  • Experience with developing and deploying NLP models in a production environment

Hybrid Requirements:

Downtown Oakville, ON (Remote with minimum of two days in-office per week)
