The opportunity:
The Operations Manager is the senior leadership administrative/operations position in the College of Nursing.
The Operations Manager is responsible for directing, overseeing, and providing strategic, operational, and administrative oversight, control, and support to the College of Nursing, including human resource management and facility management.
The scope of responsibility and accountability are extensive.
The Operations Manager holds a senior leadership role in the development and execution of the College of Nursing's strategic and operational plans.
The financial and operational stability and sustainability of the College of Nursing requires this position to interact and foster collaborative and productive partnerships by liaising with numerous key stakeholders on a regular basis.
This position is accountable for analyzing and ensuring financial/operational viability and sustainability for the College of Nursing.The qualifications and experience we're looking for:
- University Bachelor's degree in Business or a related discipline to management, business administration or commerce required.
- Certificate program in Human Resources Management required.
- Master's degree in related field, preferred.
- Professional Designation (CGA, CMA, CA) preferred.
- 5 years prior experience in a senior role with supervisory and financial experience required.
- Working knowledge of University of Manitoba policies and systems is required.
- Experience in management and human resources is required.
- Must have demonstrated experience in supervising work of a minimum of 12 employees in a unionized office setting, including experience in guiding and developing staff, and fostering constructive team relationships.
- Must have experience in performance management and dealing with employee issues and carrying out disciplinary action.
- Must have experience administering and interpreting governing documents, collective agreements, and employment legislation, in the University of Manitoba environment.
- Experience working within the University of Manitoba and Rady Faculty of Health Sciences from an operational perspective is an asset.
- Management experience, particularly in health care administration is an asset.
- Experience in a teaching health care setting preferred.
- Must have Payroll Administration experience.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of video conference software (Zoom, MS Teams, Webex) required.
- Effective interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills required.
- Proven time management, decisionmaking and problemsolving skills are required.
- Must be highly organized and able to set priorities; maintain confidentiality; and exercise diplomacy and tact.
- Must have a willingness and ability to adapt to changing administrative and financial systems.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts.
- Must have the skills and ability to handle highly confidential material, multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must have the ability to exercise judgment, make decisions, deal with complex matters and work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate needs.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage a large volume of work with attention to detail, conflicting priorities and deadlines is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
