About the position:

Houle's Project Planning Services department is looking for a
MEP Virtual Design Construction (VDC)
Coordinator to join the team.

Our planning department specializes in designing and creating installation drawings from engineering construction documents, to the field stage for installation.

This encompasses many electrical systems such as distribution infrastructures, wall elevations, branch power & lighting, fire alarm, and technology systems such as structured cabling, nurse call, and security.


Based out of Kelowna, the Project Planning Services team supports our large Design Build projects across the province, ranging from large residential, office high rises to major hospitals.


There are both Hybrid and Remote work options available for this role.

Key VDC Coordinator Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide input to the BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy
  • Use specific workflows and BIM data for estimating, planning, coordination and site installation.
  • Working with planners, to coordinate electrical infrastructure into construction models, using the appropriate Software tools (Revit, Revit-Addons, AutoCAD)
  • Help facilitate clash detection and attend coordination meetings with MEP trades
  • Help create and fine tune revit content (ex. Families, worksets, templates)
  • Investigate and test new Revit addons and other BIM/VDC technologies

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with focus on BIM Management, Modeling and technologies
  • Advanced experience in Revit MEP, Autodesk BIM360 and Navisworks is required
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret design and construction drawings
  • Electrical TQ or experience working in the field, is considered a strong asset
  • Eager personality with drive to continue to learn and develop
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to take initiative
  • Energetic, flexible, problemsolving mindset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
