Maintenance and Grounds Assistant

Maintenance

  • Assist with maintenance and repairs of all buildings (inside and out).
Grounds and Property

  • Winter: Snow plowing, care of furnaces and boilers, and keep plumbing from freezing. Winter maintenance often requires working weekends.
  • Spring: Cut grass and remove trees, cut wood, gardening, open buildings in the Summer Centre
  • Assist with routine plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting and repairs.
  • Pool: assist with opening and repair swimming pool, acid wash before filling, test water and maintain to safe standards. Pool safety requires monitoring 7 days / week.
Safety and Services

  • Take responsibility for water testing and reporting. Must hold or be willing to obtain certificate for Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems and Pool and any other necessary requirements to support Five Oaks.
  • Attend to garbage, recycling and compost bins.
Administration

  • Lead volunteer work camps, as required. Provide guidance to groups who are willing to provide services to Five Oaks.
  • Work collegially with volunteers and other staff. Interact courteously with Five Oaks users.
  • Assist with setup of meeting spaces for groups and events as requested.
