Department Overview

Our product development team is focused on developing and improving products and services we offer to the financial industry across pricing, valuations, and reference data.

Major asset classes that we cover include Bonds, Loans, Equities, Credit Default Swaps (CDS) and other derivatives.

Our data and services are used by key financial institutions for price discovery, risk, valuation, compliance, and various other use cases.

Markit Parsing provides robust coverage across 40+ OTC instruments including Bonds, CDS, Index and Loans.

Started in 2007, Markit Parsing combines adaptive, real-time message parsing technology with our pricing data and industry knowledge to offer a dynamic service that extracts and stores OTC pricing content from messages.

The combination of hosted technology and a dedicated data quality team ensures that customers consistently receive timely and accurate parsed data in a wide range of formats and delivery methods.

This allows customers to integrate observable prices into trading, valuation and audit processes.

Job Description:

Duties & Accountabilities:

Develop and prototype product methodologies across a wide range of financial instruments and asset classes
Collaborate with internal teams including business development, business analysts, IT and operations when implementing product enhancements
Identify and implement data quality improvement projects
Identification of opportunities to enhance operational efficiency
Test quality of new and enhanced datasets
Help maintain our data processing and cleaning algorithms
Help support day-to-day running of our Parsing services including maintaining data quality and providing customer support
Generate metrics and reports on the quality of parsing data
Must have general interest in financial markets, bonds & other fixed income asset classes and be keen to expand the knowledge

Education & Experiences:

University Degree (minimum Bachelor) in a quantitative discipline

Technical skills:
Python, R and SQL knowledge are a plus
Understanding of financial markets, knowledge of and exposure to OTC products is desirable

Personal Competencies:

Good analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with teams, senior members of the organization and clients. Strong work ethic characterized by an entrepreneurial and "go-getter" attitude.
Team player attitude is vital for the role. This includes giving and receiving constructive feedback, as well as a deadline-orientated approach to group projects.
