Reporting into the Senior Manager, Global Regulatory Affairs & Compliance, the Global Regulatory Affairs & Advisory Manager - Chemicals monitors, assesses, and advises on regulatory requirements to mitigate risks related to chemicals usage in our products, packaging, and manufacturing processes.

This role also proactively tracks regulatory advancements related to chemicals management to protect the health and safety of our guests, stakeholders, and our environment.

a day in the life

  • In collaboration with the Chemicals Management Team, ensure regulated standards are reflected in annual updates to lululemon's Restricted Substances List
  • Conduct research and maintain knowledge of international, federal and regional chemicalrelated legislation and regulations governing the marketing and sale of consumer products and packaging
  • Complete research and analysis to determine impacts to lululemon's business from impending chemical compliance, regulatory or legislative changes
  • Provide regular insights and risk analysis on the chemicals regulatory landscape, interpret impact to the lululemon business strategies and apparel & footwear industry
  • Lead review of RSL failures, recommend corrective action, and validate implementation
  • Contribute to training vendors and crossfunctional partners on chemicals compliance tools and practices, as required
  • Develop positions to advance sciencebased regulatory standards in cooperation with industry associations
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional partners including Raw Materials, Sourcing, and the Chemical Management Team to achieve internal alignment on interpretation and implementation required to meet new chemical standards
qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, têxtile science, environmental science, or related field
  • 5 to 8 years' experience working in a chemicals management, quality, product safety, or regulatory/legal function, or an advanced degree in a related field. Experience in apparel/têxtile sector is an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quickly understanding and interpreting scientific and technical details
  • Experience with national and/or international chemical laws and regulations applicable to adult apparel and accessories,, foods, electronics and equipment
  • Experience with regulatory, government and industry or standards organizations
  • Expert interpersonal and communication skills, including experience presenting to senior management, superior writing skills, and the ability to work within crossfunctional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment using quantitative and qualitative data
  • Works independently, with a high degree of ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism and integrity in dealing with stakeholders
  • Previous Project Management experience is an asset
  • Previous experience with the development and implementation of a Restricted Substances List or related chemicals management programs is an asset
  • Experience with legal and regulatory action is desired
  • Background in product testing and compliance an asset
  • Proven ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, problem solve under pressure and tight timelines, escalate issues as needed and support leadership with strategic analysis and decisionmaking
