Job Summary:

The Geotechnical Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Senior Manager, Geotechnical. Responsibilities include managing geotechnical projects, overseeing contractors, developing tender documents, and ensuring projects are carried out efficiently and safely.

In addition to project coordination, this role involves providing support for emergency response related to geohazards, liaising with internal departments and external consultants, and managing financial aspects of projects.


  • Assist in coordinating internal and external projects
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with CN standards
  • Conduct audits on construction sites for safety compliance
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders for project success
  • Ensure projects are completed within set timelines and budget constraints
  • Work closely with internal teams to meet project milestones

Working Conditions:

This role entails a blend of office and outdoor work, involving exposure to various weather conditions. The standard workweek is from Monday to Friday, with a potential for off-hours calls for critical incidents. The role may require working in hazardous environments and extensive travel within Canada.


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Willingness to work weekends and after-hours when necessary
  • Ability to travel for field inspections and projects
  • Comfort working in hazardous sites and handling pressure
  • Strong drafting skills and knowledge of geotechnical techniques
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
  • Valid Driver's License
