Summary


This position, reporting to the Manager of Procurement / Facilities & Compliance, is responsible for assisting in the facility maintenance at both the Oakville and Mississauga locations.


Responsibilities

Day to day facilities maintenance as required including:

  • Painting
  • both large and small areas.
  • Electrical work.
  • Plumbing work.
  • Hanging pictures and/or banners or other items as requested.
  • Carpet and/or floor repairs.

Meeting room maintenance:

  • Ensuring all meeting rooms are cleaned and prepared for next business day.
  • Assisting Administrative Assistants as required throughout the day for meeting room cleanup.
  • Ensuring white boards, flip charts and workable markers for both dry board and paper are available, along with additional meeting supplies.

Photocopy Location Maintenance:

  • Ensuring all photocopy areas are clear and clutter free to promote a professional environment.
  • Ensure every station has adequate paper supply for over stock and that all machines are stocked on a daily basis to prevent the requirement for daily reloads.
  • Ensure that print jobs left over a 12hour period are removed and/or destroyed.
  • Advise appropriate department when paper needs reordering.
  • Advise Mailroom associates when additional toner is required.
  • Change toner cartridges as requested

Kitchenette Areas Maintenance:

  • Ensure there are full stocks of cups, sugar, milk, cream, napkins and stirring utensils at all stations.
  • Cleaning both refrigerator and microwave units.
  • Ensuring dishes are cleaned and put away to promote a professional environment
  • Advise cafeteria staff and/or cleaners when supplies need to be replenished

Health and Safety:

  • Weekly testing of emergency lighting and replacing burned out bulbs and exit sign lights
  • Weekly fire extinguisher inspections responsible for advising Compliance Manager when refills are required.
  • Spill clean up to avoid trips and falls.
  • Ensuring proper signage is used when work is being done.

Other - Miscellaneous:

  • Plant maintenance (watering plants, etc).
  • Coordination with Manger all incoming vendors and contractors to ensure escort policies are observed.
  • Communicating with Manager when vendors/suppliers are not performing as required eg: cleaners.
  • Backup Manager during absence for general procurement/facilities issues.

Skills and Competencies**- Proven ability to multi-task and manage in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to make decisions when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a strong teambased environment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Health and Safety knowledge a definite asset
  • Strong adherence to comply with established safety regulations, company rules, guidelines, and policies
  • Strong personal responsibility in terms of attendance, punctuality and commitment to job performance postsecondary education/training combined with work experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Working experience and knowledge with electrical maintenance and repairs.
  • Working experience and knowledge with plumbing maintenance and repairs.

Education and Training

  • High school diploma required.
