At Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), you will be given the opportunity to be part of a tight-knit team of business analysis and portfolio management experts who support IT initiatives that relate to protecting and conserving our natural heritage, and ensuring a clean, safe and sustainable environment for present and future generations.

Some of our projects relate to:

Wildlife, plants, and species:
projects in support of research and conservation efforts relating to species, migratory birds and wildlife conservation;

Climate Change:
support scientists with their work on climate change science, and support the Pan-Canadian framework on Climate Change in its implementation of a modern climate change plan for Canadians;

Weather observation and reporting:
support IT projects, where Canada's meteorologists conduct critical work relating to the collection of weather-related data that ultimately feeds into the weather report;

Wildlife and environmental enforcement:

support Canada's enforcement officers whose work is to protect wildlife from illegal human interventions, such as hunting or trade that could adversely affect long-term wildlife conservation, as well as ensure that companies and individuals comply with environmental acts and regulations.

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

  • Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
  • Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
  • At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above.
