The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.

Job Information

As the Manager of Professional Learning and System Transformation you will be responsible for supporting equitable access to quality early learning opportunities in the licensed Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) system as well as the public education system in the Northwest Territories.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and reporting related to strategic plans, such as the 2030 ELCC Strategy, federal agreements and action plans that support ongoing improvements to the ELCC system in the Northwest Territories. This includes providing strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and enhancement of post-secondary and professional learning to support access to quality, inclusive early learning and child care programs. This is also accomplished through oversight of development and implementation of an Early Learning Framework and resource development and distribution, as well as Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten program delivery in the public education system and related assessments and curriculum.

To be successful in this role you will typically need a Degree in Early Childhood Education and five (5) years of related work experience, including working in a licensed child care facility or teaching in a JK-3 Northern classroom or in a social sciences field directly involved with programs and services that support early childhood development, and one (1) year of supervisory / team lead experience.
