Accountability Objective:


The Nursing Restorative Aide is accountable to the Restorative Care Coordinator/or designate to provide nursing restorative care programs for residents according to established home standards, policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs those functions which provide for restorative care of residents with an acceptable standard of skill, with a sense of responsibility and respect for privacy.
  • Assists in the restorative care process by observing and reporting changes in the resident's physical and emotional condition.
  • Knows the guidelines of restorative care of assigned residents as outlined in the resident care plan. Gives care according to these guidelines.
  • Is aware of the Resident Bill of Rights and endeavors to respect and promote it.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary care conference, provides information to assist in the formulation of a comprehensive plan of care for the resident.
  • Documents on flow sheets, progress notes and care plans as per system.
  • Encourages residents to maximize their potential through restorative programs.
  • Works collaboratively with the Rehabilitation Department to develop, implement and evaluate resident restorative programs.
  • Maintains an effective communication and good human relations with residents, families and fellow staff using the appropriate lines of communication.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and personnel.
  • Shares responsibility for the care of equipment; uses equipment in a safe manner.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and understands the reporting process.
  • Attends inservice education to keep informed of current trends in restorative/rehabilitation practice and longterm care.
  • Assists residents during mealtimes. This includes, but is not limited to, setup, prompting, assisting with feeding the resident, portering and meal supervision.
  • Porter residents throughout the home, as needed.
  • Assist with resident lifts and transfers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
