The Activity Department is responsible for providing a comfortable, secure, personally satisfying environment for each individual resident keeping in mind the concept of normalization. We believe in providing a high quality of life for all our resident. This shall be accomplished through a multi disciplinary approach to planning, implementing and evaluating of activity programs. Programs shall meet the physical, emotional, social, educational, psychological and spiritual needs of each resident. We will encourage and actively support individuality and independence thereby giving our residents a sense of belonging and control over their own environment. We believe we are responsible to assist in providing job satisfaction by ongoing education support of personal growth and recognition of skills and achievement by all employees.
- Assists with planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the planned recreation programs in collaboration with the Life Enrichment Director to promote the well-being of each resident. This includes awareness of the resident as a whole person considering cultural, social, spiritual, psycho social, and physical needs.
- Respects the Resident Bill of Rights and endeavors to promote it.
- Assists in escorting/transporting residents to programs and activities.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary team conferences, provides information to assist in the development of a comprehensive individualized resident care plan.
- Reviews each resident care plan regularly to ensure familiarity with resident needs.
- Communicates collaboratively with other departments i.e. Nursing to plan and organize resident activities.
- Documents pertinent resident information in the resident record.
- Recommend appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Assist in training and supervising volunteers and students.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the homes policies and procedures.
- Continues to develop skills and knowledge related to trends in gerontology, seniors leisure activities and recreational programs.
- Maintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers, and coworkers using the appropriate lines of communication. (Works cooperatively with families, including them in resident care needs.)
- Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the home.
- Assists in maintaining a safe, neat environment for residents and all personnel.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $20.44-$21.79 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Holidays
- On call
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Delaware, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
