Position Summary:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Receive and unload raw materials, gas cylinders, consumables, equipment and parts using forklift or other handling tools as instructed by the Engineering Services team lead.
  • Organize materials, consumables, equipment, and parts in designated spaces according to instructions.
  • Check and verify the condition of received goods and provide documentation to procurement and finance teams.
  • Raise purchase requisitions for lab and pilot equipment and consumables to maintain optimized inventory levels.
  • Arrange the return of any damaged or defective items and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate parties.
  • Communicate with vendors to determine shipment timelines and provide status updates to the appropriate parties.
  • Transport and distribute delivered items between warehouses in Burnaby.
  • Package and ship lab scale deliverables to customers according to delivery deadlines.
  • Assist Engineering Services with daytoday maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S standards.
  • Maintain a high level of safety behavior.
Shipment of goods

  • Prepare material for shipments according to orders and information received.
  • Pack materials and products according to prescribed standards and required instructions.
  • Prepare the paperwork required for parcel shipments.
  • Prepare the paperwork for export shipments.
  • Schedule shipments to meet deliverable.
  • Arrange the pickup of hazardous waste totes from a 3rd party vendor.
  • Load trucks and containers using the forklift or other handling tool.
  • Prepare shipment of material and equipment to our Candiac facility.
  • Floor management and Engineering services assistance
  • Make the required entries and records to the ERP system if applicable.
  • Provide lab and scale up teams with the required equipment and materials through raising purchase requisitions of consumables and chemicals.
  • Ensure the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse and pilot plant areas.
  • Ensure the general hygiene of the warehouses are up to standards set by the 5S standards.
  • Collaborate in the general maintenance of the warehouse when required to maintain unobstructed access at all times.
  • Sort pallets to remove defective pallets and store them in the areas provided.
  • Inspect forklifts, loaders and loading docks daily, complete routine maintenance for equipment and keep them in good working order.
  • Support the Engineering Service team during specific needs requiring the use of forklifts or other.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 35 years of experience in a shipping & receiving role
  • Experience in a chemical process environment would be an asset
  • Valid forklift license
  • Experience operating forklifts is essential
  • Experience with slings would be an asset
  • Experience in handling and transporting gas cylinders
  • Block and brace experience
  • Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 50 lbs)
  • Experience with Office suite and ERP would be an asset
