We're looking for a self-motivated Gasfitter to join our Natural Gas team in Hinton, AB. You will be responsible for the installation, inspection, adjustment and servicing of natural gas equipment.

All work is done to ensure the safety, reliability and efficiency in accordance with company, provincial and municipal codes and procedures.

What You Get to Do:

  • Install, construct, inspect, test, and service natural gas equipment.
  • Interpret prints and specifications and other jobrelated information to determine location, size and materials required to install and service natural gas equipment.
  • Plan and carry out installation, inspection, and maintenance projects.
  • Install vents and flues and connect gas consuming appliances.
  • Respond to customer requests for a variety of servicerelated work.
  • Ensure operation and maintenance of regulating, measuring and odorization facilities and equipment.
  • Respond to, or assist in response to emergency calls and ensures proper emergency procedures are followed and securing the safety of the area.
  • Investigate, or assist in the investigation of gas leaks or odors, gas fires and explosions.
  • Assist in the operation of propane and natural gas trailers and filling stations.
  • Install, inspect, test and service gas utility systems as required.
  • Prepare pipe using tools such as pipe cutters, pipe threading machines and pipe vices.
  • May be required to perform testing, calibration and repairs to equipment.
  • Locate underground gas systems and conduct routine surveys of gas mains and distribution lines to detect and locate escaping gas.
  • Perform or assist in the performance of various inspections and/or data collection including but not limited to cathodic protection readings, odorant level tests, regulating stations, charting changing and curb box inspections.
  • Perform quality assurance and inspections on servicerelated work done by other departments and contractors as directed.
  • Promote good working relations with external and internal contacts.
  • Complete and maintain up to date documentation, records, forms and reports.
  • Identify and detail any incidence of gas theft from company and customer facilities.
  • Provide on the job training or formal technical training as required.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or G.E.D.
  • Alberta Gasfitter Certificate (Class A or B). A Gasfitter Class A ticket would be considered an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and familiarity with various regulatory codes governing the natural gas industry.
  • Must display good verbal and written communication skills, decision making skills, and strong work ethics, and be able to maintain and promote good working relationships and excellent customer service.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Class '5' driver's license.
  • Ability to interpret plans, working drawings and material specification.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical proficiency and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Must meet company standby requirements and be available for standby when scheduled.
  • May be called out to assist in emergencies on a 24hour basis.
  • Must participate in the shift schedule as required.
  • This position is a Safety-Sensitive position and has additional preemployment requirements.
