Description

Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

SUMMARY

The Senior Purchasing Specialist is responsible for executing requests for goods and materials for various operational groups with minimal supervision and/or oversight. They are also responsible for ensuring invoices are processed in a timely manner as well as assisting the estimating team for material requests and supporting operations for any vendor disputes and claims. As a lead for an assigned project or Primoris Canada company you will work to ensure all project items regarding purchasing are identified and addressed from project award to close.

Work Location: Acheson, AB (Corporate Office)

JOB DUTIES

  • Receive/review requisitions and request clarification as required
  • Place orders for requested materials with established vendors
  • Source supply for regular/emergency purchases
  • Issue purchase and change orders as necessary
  • Maintain consistent and accurate purchase and price records
  • Ensure the purchase of all goods and services comply with company policy, procedure, and guidelines
  • Ensure materials are purchased at the lowest total cost, in specified quantity and quality, within specified lead-time
  • Follow and expedite procurement through delivery of the product or services specified and invoicing
  • Maintain communication with operations in respect to lead-time on critical materials
  • Review invoices with accounts payable where the price or terms do not align with the purchase order as required. Ensure disputes are resolved in a timely manner
  • Lead purchasing specialist will be responsible to support all estimating requests for the assigned company as well as ensure a timely close out of all purchase order agreements
  • Contribute to identifying areas of innovation and cost savings
  • Implement and administer master pricing agreements
  • Mentor and coach junior staff in all aspects of their daily assigned duties. Fill in as required to support less senior team members
  • Assist in the negotiations of the contract terms and conditions. Ensure tracking and implementation of all technical and commercial exceptions to support project
  • Support field engineering/operations in the creation of RFI's for material and scope clarifications as well as claims disputes
  • Various other duties as requested by management

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Relevant post-secondary education - Diploma, Degree, or designation
  • 5 - 10 years' experience preferably in construction or manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years' industrial construction experience
  • Knowledge - SCMP Designation or CCLP Designation
  • Knowledge - Canadian Construction Contracts Terms and Conditions, Specifications, Isometric Drawings
  • Technical skills - Issuing RFx, conducting bid analysis, expediting to close
  • Technical skills - Supplier negotiations, cost control/reductions
  • Technical skills - Experience with project close outs
  • Analytical skills - Obtain, analyze, and interpret supply chain relevant data
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Experienced in ERP software - Vista preferred
  • Time management with minimal supervision/oversight
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Work under pressure
