About Us:

The Status of Women Office works collaboratively with government departments, agencies, academia, community groups, and women-serving organizations.

It is responsible for operational and administrative support to transition houses, women's centers, the Nova Scotia Native Women's Association, and Alice House.

The Office leads Standing Together, Nova Scotia's coordinated approach to prevent domestic violence

Our current priorities are:

ensuring that women and their children are safe from gender-based violence; strengthening women's economic security; and encouraging women's participation in leadership.


About Our Opportunity:


Join the team at the Office of the Status of Women as a Project Manager to lead strategic projects in relation to the Canada-Nova Scotia Action Plan to End Gender-based Violence, a major priority for the office.


This role entails overseeing projects with significant impact and collaboration with colleagues in the federal department of Women and Gender Equality Canada to ensure adherence to the National Action Plan.

You'll be responsible for project consultation, promotion, budgeting, contract management, communications, and project plan development.

Your strategic leadership will guide projects toward our organizational goals, and your ability to engage stakeholders will ensure successful project delivery.

Primary Accountabilities:

You will be involved in the formation, development and administration of programs and services related to the National Action Plan

This includes:

  • Managing and delivering project outcomes
  • Providing project direction and plans, including scope development, business requirements analysis, procurement advice, methodology selection, and resource management.
  • Developing and delivering internal and external communication plans, including ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Identifying process shortcomings, suggesting improvements, and collaboratively delivering change management plans.
  • Managing project budgets, conducting complex budget analyses, and allocating resources
  • Managing client, service provider, project team relationships and collaborating with diverse community partners.
  • Mentoring, coaching and monitoring the project team to ensure project objectives are met and best practices are followed.

Qualifications and Experience:


You possess a university degree from a recognized school in business or project management plus several years of related management experience, or an equivalent level of direct and relevant experience will be considered.


You must demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership abilities in managing projects that achieve results in a complex and changing organization, influenced by a wide range of internal and external demands.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects and deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Effective, articulate, and persuasive communication abilities (written and verbal) along with attention to detail in terms of reading and disseminating information.
  • An understanding and experience of change management at the individual and project levels.
  • Proficiency in Excel (or equivalent project management software) for effective planning and monitoring project progress and performance. Sensitivity to cultural differences and experience engaging with diverse community partners to ensure respectful and inclusive project execution.

The following will be considered assets:
experience leading event planning and/or coordination, working in the public sector, and social policy experience.
