Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma (Grade 12);
  • One (1) year of work experience within a Health Records Environment;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Experience in handling confidential patient information;
  • Successful completion of TOH medical terminology selfdirected learning program or certification in medical terminology from a recognized educational institution;
  • Data Entry (4000 keystrokes/hour);
  • Aboveaverage organizational skills with a high degree of personal initiative;
  • Aboveaverage computer literacy with interfaced software systems;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Close attention to detail;
  • Familiar with Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act;
  • General Knowledge of the Ottawa Hospital clinical record content;
  • Basic math skills;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
  • Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English speaking clients.
