Toronto, Ontario, Canada Wave Full time
We believe small businesses are at the heart of our communities, and championing them is worth fighting for.

We empower small business owners to manage their finances fearlessly, by offering the simplest, all-in-one financial management solution they can't live without.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Security, as a Security Compliance Specialist you will be managing compliance reporting and building processes to better support the Security team and broader engineering as a whole.

We're looking for a talented, curious self-starter who is driven to solve complex problems and can juggle multiple domains and stakeholders.

This individual will collaborate with teams at Wave and external partners to coordinate solutions, establish and improve processes as the business scales, and assist in advancing Wave to the next stage in our evolution.

This role is for someone with proven experience in complex environments. Strong communication skills are a must to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.

Here's how you'll make a difference:

  • You're a builder. You'll be responsible for overhauling and creating processes and reporting for various Security compliance programs we'll be pursuing.
  • You'll drive process and tool improvements to enable frictionless compliance reporting across Wave. Your work will enable the company to expand our service offerings by helping us adopt new standards.
  • Engage in a mix of long term project work and short term responsive work. We aim to support each other and the company, and achieve this by assisting each other as needed.

You'll thrive here if:

  • You're selfmotivated and have the ability to work autonomously. No one's going to be peering over your shoulder here. We will make sure that you have access to the tools, information, and schedule you need to succeed at your job.
  • You are all about collaboration. You'll be working with different teams across Wave and prioritizing competing requests with your manager and colleagues.
  • You are a stellar communicator. This means you know how to translate technical terms into nontechnical language in a way anyone can understand.
  • You value a safe space to grow for both yourself and others. You'll be developing new skills and assisting other Wavers in honing theirs. While the work we do at Wave is important, it's also important for people to be able to make mistakes in order to grow. We build in that space for you to do so, if you don't need it, that's great but you should still have a healthy appreciation for safety nets

These will help you succeed:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Compliance. Thoroughly familiar with conducting audits, automation, building processes and programs. This is important because this is what you'll be doing most of the time, and we need someone experienced to do it.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an environment with cloud infrastructure. We're on AWS, but Azure and GCP experience are fine.
  • Familiarity with financial and US statelevel regulatory requirements, and knowledge of KYC / KYB and UAR compliance processes.
  • Additional familiarity with SOC, ISO, PCI, SOX, PIPEDA, NIST, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and all of the other letters of the alphabet would also help
  • Experience with creating walkthrough documentation, leveraging automation and reporting, identifying gaps, and developing MAPs.
  • Comfortable with Supplier Risk Management, vendor review, and all of the other things involved with making sure that Wave is working with trusted partners that are able to responsibly facilitate our growth.
  • A welldeveloped sense of empathy, understanding, and care for the people you'll be working with.
At Wave, you're treated like the incredible human being you are.

Work From Where You Work Best:We will always have a welcoming, energizing, and world-class office (in Toronto) with a space for you. Or, if you're more comfortable working from home, the choice is yours
