The Outreach Team Leader position entails overseeing daily operations and ensuring a secure and supportive environment for program participants. This role involves offering emotional and physical assistance, crisis intervention, and maintaining safety standards during shifts.

This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols for all individuals and staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conduct regular safety checks.
  • Follow safety guidelines for all activities, including transportation, and report any concerns promptly.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment when necessary.

Health and Medical

  • Attend to health and medical needs promptly and administer medication as required.
  • Recognize and report any signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Offer emotional support to individuals and assist in meal planning and preparation.

Person Centred Plans

  • Implement individual plans and assist in goal setting.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external programs and agencies.

Individual Personal Development

  • Encourage participation in daily activities and promote independence.
  • Model appropriate behavior and provide support for personal growth.

Public Relations and Communication

  • Manage program resources wisely and foster positive social interactions.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with all stakeholders.

Program Development

  • Assist in creating and facilitating activities and events based on member interests and abilities.
  • Promote personal development and social interaction within the program.

Other Duties as Required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications:

  • Completion of Community College diploma/University degree or relevant experience in a community-based setting.
  • Valid Manitoba Class V driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Various background checks including Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Adult Abuse Registry.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience in developmental services, preferably in disabilities field.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in keyboarding and manual record-keeping.
  • Physical care abilities including lifting, packing, and transfers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent English language proficiency, both spoken and written.
  • Aptitude for multitasking, problem-solving, and creativity.
