The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) changes lives by bringing people and knowledge together to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs on society.

Responsibilities

Communications Planning

  • Provide support and advice to ensure that all communications expand and reinforce CCSA's profile and visibility

Strategic Communications

  • Contribute to implementing CCSA's corporate communications plan, including outreach strategies, specific projects, and events and activities, through the use of both traditional and social media
  • Provide communications advice, skills and expertise to drive forward corporate priorities
  • Develop and execute innovative social media strategies in line with organizational objectives
  • Develop traditional and paid media campaigns

Public Affairs and Media Relations

  • Create communications products to link CCSA's issues to government priorities at the federal, provincial and territorial levels
  • Contribute to the development of media messaging

Social and Digital Media

  • Develop social media plans to promote websites, reports, public education and events
  • Write compelling content for various social media platforms

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in social media, public relations, journalism or communications ; and two to five years of relevant work experience; or certificate in related field and five years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to take initiative, establish priorities and manage deadlines in a fastpaced environment while exercising flexibility, sound judgment and welldeveloped analytical, reasoning and problemsolving skills
  • Experience managing social media marketing campaigns and daytoday activities
  • Experience in dealing with news media
  • Exceptional writing skills with experience conceptualizing and producing a variety of documents and multimedia materials, including news releases, backgrounders, articles, web content and PowerPoint presentations

Assets

  • Bilingualism English and French
  • Experience working with officials at the federal or provincial/territorial levels
  • Experience using Meltwater software and Meltwater Engagement
  • Experience with podcast and video production
  • Knowledge of the addictions field
