Student, Place of Employment Surveyor

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collects and inputs information for the "Place of Employment" Survey.
  • Accurately inputs survey information into computer.
  • Follows up with telephone calls as necessary.
  • Responds to basic questions about the survey.
  • Spends 50% of the time travelling to various locations. Spends 50% of the time in an office environment to meet with supervisor, receive instructions, routes, make phone calls, complete followup work, and verify data.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of land use planning, theory, research, statistical analysis, and demographics, acquired through current enrolment in a post secondary program in Geography, Planning, Business, or equivalent field, plus 6 months of customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with reading maps and ability to navigate around the Region by vehicle, transit, and walking/moving about.
  • Human Relations and communication skills to speak with business owners and staff, elicit information, respond to inquiries and complaints, and participate as an effective team member.
  • Computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office (including Excel).
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout Waterloo Region on a daily basis.
  • Ability to support and demonstrate the Region's values.
