Duties and responsibilities:

  • Along with a RECE, assist in developing and implementing childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
  • Assist in planning, developing and conducting programs keeping in view the individual needs of the children, through observations, documentation and interpretation
  • Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
  • Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities of the children
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families of the children
  • Keep accurate and current, the records as required by the Centre and the Ministry.
  • Attend meetings and professional development seminars as required
  • Being responsible for maintaining a healthy, safe, clean, stimulating environment for children in the assigned classroom and for the Centre.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Current, clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children. Experience in working in a Montessori setting will be an asset.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR level "C"
  • UptoDate Immunization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of multiple languages will be an asset.
